Author’s Note: This is a short creative piece on a winter snow scene. Watch how I use figurative language throughout the piece
When I step outside of my front door to only see what looks like 100 inches of snow, I quickly realize that it is only seven inches of heavy, wet snow. Struggling to get to the garage to reach the shovels, I tripped and fell into the snow. Face plant: my face was covered in snow, like cake covered in frosting. I felt so cold like I was sitting in a bathtub of ice. I then went inside to warm up like it was a hot summer day. I thought that after I face planted in the snow I wasn’t going to shovel anymore, so I made some hot chocolate and sat in a chair wrapped in a warm blanket looking outside my window. When I really got to take a good look at the snow instead of it all in my face, I saw all the snow from a distance. I looked at the sparkly snow resting on the trees as it glistened in the sun...Even though the winter is the coldest and most people don’t like the cold, it sure is the prettiest to take a good close look at.
