Don’t take her from me
Have you ever known someone who hurts themselves? In the book Chicken soup for the kid’s soul, by Amber Foy. Amber is an 11 year old girl that wrote about a true story in her life. Amber tells her story because she doesn’t want anyone else to have to experience anything like she had to. This story talks about drugs and how it can really tare a family apart.
In this story Amber Foy lives at home with her mom and her step brother. Right now in school Amber is learning about drugs, she says that she doesn’t know too much about them because she doesn’t want to know that much otherwise she is scared that the drugs will come in to her life somehow. She sees that her mom is doing drugs one day and she doesn’t believe her eyes.
Amber asked her grandma if it was true of not. Her grandma said that it was true and that she was going to tell the police on her for doing illegal drugs. When I read that I thought that you shouldn’t do drugs because you can just get in trouble and it can tare your family apart like it did to Amber’s family, because her mom had to go to a mental hospital for about 3 months to makes sure that her mind was clear. When she got out Amber wanted to see her again.
When amber saw her for the first time in 3 months she was scared, because she didn’t want what happened to her mom to happen to her. Because she thought that her mom would try to give her the drugs. Amber gave her mom a hug and her mom had kissed her on the head. Amber then felt safe around her mother. I could relate to this at this point because if my mom did drugs I don’t know if I would feel safe around her either. But in the end Amber and her family are closer than ever. She says that her mom is her best friend and she loves her more than ever.
This story is good for kids and adults, because it can teach a lesson on how not to do anything that will hurt you or your family because in this story Amber had to see her mom doing stuff to her that will harm her body. And that it can tare your family apart and this goes along with kids too because these day kids are doing drugs. Don’t do this to yourself because everyone needs their family.
