Are You Mature?

Authors note: I can relate to this story because these four girls are all going in to seventh grade, and I can relate because I am in seventh grade.

In this book there are four girls. All just about to start their 6th grade going into 7th grade summer. And all the girls are going to be doing something different. This book will help the people in the world because all these girls are taking new chances with their life and they don’t know if they are going to end up liking their new life, but they just might have to live with it.

The first girl Kristy lives with her mom. And is hoping that her dad will come home to the family. I can see how this is hard for her family, not having you dad home everyday to say good morning, or to say good night honey I love you, sweet dreams. I can see how that is hard but I don’t know exactly how that would feel because I am so use to having my dad around. I think that some girls and guys take advantage of their parents, because they should really think about how much that their mom and dad do for them, our parents are our cooks, nurses, tutors. And we should really thank them for what they give us.

Mary Anne wants to show her parents that she is not a little kid any more. She is going to do this by babysitting the neighbors eight kids. When I read this part in the book I thought that Mary Anne can try to show her parents that she is not the same little girl that she was before. But Mary Anne is only in 7th grade. The author is trying to teach the reader that as you get older in life you can do more things that you couldn’t do before.

Claudia I think has a summer that she feels that will last a long time. She is dealing with this guys that she likes, but he doesn’t like her back. I can see how that is hard because I have liked many guys, that don’t like me and just want to stay friends. Claudia and her “crush” are really good friends. The only reason that he doesn’t want to go any further with the relationship is because he doesn’t want to date her and then if they would break up they wouldn’t be friends. I can see how that can be hard. Because I have dated someone and we were really good friends before we started to date and now we don’t even talk to each other. I kind of wish that we had just stayed friends.

I think that Stacey is going to have the hardest summer out of all her friends. She is leaving new York and is going to be moving to Connecticut. I don’t know how that feels to make lots of friends and then just one day pack up all your bags and leave them. But I do have a friend named Sierra who use to live in Wisconsin but had to move because her mom and dad got divorced, and moved to North Carolina with her mom and I only get to see her once a year in the summer. Maybe twice if I get to see her in winter when she comes for Christmas.

The author is trying to teach a lesson about take chances in life. Because you only live life once, and if you keep doing the same thing in life that you have been doing, you are not going to get anywhere in life.
